Firefly Massage School

My name is Deb Harris, owner and teacher of Firefly Massage School. I'd like to tell you a little bit about myself and how I got into the massage world. I moved to Vermont in 1979 after a brief visit I fell in love with the Green mountain state and knew I wanted to raise my family. I had four boys, I grew my own food, and didn't have cable TV at the time everyone else did. Our playground was the woods and the mountains around us. Unfortunately my marriage did not last and I was in the position of being a single mom. This is when I started searching for a profession or career in which I could take care of myself and my two boys who were still in school. The thought of going to a four year college seemed too hard and too long at the time, I was 42 year's old. So I came upon an ad for the Maui School of Therapeutic Massage, and the idea to become a massage therapist started to form. I knew I loved taking care of people so I made the decision to go to massage school. Since my graduation of massage school I have been a very busy massage therapist. I opened my own practice in my home and started working on clients. I also worked the ski resorts in the winter and the famous Tyler Place in Highgate VT. in the summer. My career took me to Fort Myers, FL.  and eventually back to the Westin Resort on the beautiful Island of Kauai, Hawaii. This journey for me has been wonderful. Doing massage is not just a job for me, it's a calling. I love making people feel better and changing one person at a time through the human touch. I am so excited to teach a new generation the art of massage therapy.
