We have been using Good Brakes for several years, and have been very pleased. Mike really cares about the relationship he has with his customers, and it shows in his work. We have always found him to be honest, and his prices to be fair. If you give Mike's shop a try, we think you'll be pleased too.
Absolutely fantastic automotive shop!! When I was referred here, I told my friend that all I was looking for was a shop that was honest and fair. The owner, Mike, is honest, fair, with very reasonable rates. He will tell you those items that need repair and those that may potentially "wait" for repair. He doesn't get you in there and talk a bunch of gobblygook that can't be understood - he explains the solution, as well as all of your options, recommends a course of action, but ultimately lets you decide the repairs to be done (based upon age of car, your budget, etc.). I really like this and it is refreshing for the automotive repair industry. He is one of the good guys!!
Let me start off by saying that sadly, only ONE POOR Review is showing up but should you investigate deeper you'll discover that Mike (owner or Good Brakes) has a very satisfactory rating! Ok, now onto my experience: I have a 1996 Chevy S10 with a 4.3 V6. Front drivers side tire fell off and I had the truck towed to Good Brakes (Never been there before) I called Mike informing him that my truck was going be dropped off and that I would be starting a new job the next morning and really needed the vehicle by end of day. Mike called me immediately and quoted me $750 for ball joints (Both sides upper/lower) The truck was finished on time and off I drove, but Mike warned that there was a serious problem is unresolved. Well, I brought the truck back to Mike yesterday. Told him felt like the drive shaft or CV Joints were bad. The Constant Velocity Joint, had to be replaced and balanced along with bushing. The quote was $850 again the truck was finish quickly. While I do not wish to put anymore money into this vehicle, it is finally dependable and reliable. Mike is honest and fair. If you have an issue with him or his service, perhaps you should ask more questions as Mike has always gone out of his way to answer all concerns I have.
I have a 2001 Crown Victoria that runs on Natural Gas. Ford stopped making this car in 2004 so I've been trying to keep it running. Right when the warranty ran out the car developed a hesitation at low speeds. I've literally spent thousands of dollars over the last three years and 45,000 miles trying to get it fixed. I tried several Ford dealers, several private mechanics, and I even had the motor rebuilt on the recommendation that it had low compression. The problem persisted. I gave Mike at Good Brakes a chance. His first attempt did not do the trick but he did hours of work and spent many hours at no charge trying to find the issue. He did finally find the problem and it runs beautiful now. I only which I had taken the car to him three years ago. He is an honest, good diagnostic mechanic, and his prices were better than any of the other shops. I would highly recommend Good Brakes if you have a problem child like mine.
Just found out today 9/1 from a mechanic working on my emissions problem, that Mike not only disconnected my cruise control and never reattached it, BUT NEVER TOLD ME IT WAS DETACHED. This happens when an intake is repaired, the lines have to be detached and put back when done. Nobody else has touched my engine or intake and I personally watched this mechanic do the emissions work on my car. (Photo has been uploaded to yelp for all to see, along with the redo brake flush I had to have done, which the photo was mysteriously deleted when posted the first time.)
Went to Good brakes automotive mike was there to help, i was happy, i am a women and i was treated real nice, he explained everything, and even asked if i wanted he can call someone i knew with more auto experience to explain the repairs to them so i would feel comfortable I REALLY LIKE THAT thank you mike i am customer for life
Mike was great. He did the job fast, accurate, precise. Look no further if you are in need of an honest mechanic, knows his stuff, keeps you informed and his rates are very reasonable. Mike will not do work you don't need. There is no pressure, just an honest evaluation from a competent professional. Thank you Mike. My car is running great. I will recommend Good Brakes Auto to all of my friends and family Debra Duggan
I was looking for an alternative to using the dealer for all my service. I didn't mind using the dealer, but it seems like their prices have started to get ridiculously expensive. I'd been to several places around town and after doing some online searches I came across Good Brakes Automotive. I decided to call and compare prices to those I had already gathered. I found Mike to be helpful, informative and he seemed straight up and honest. I decided to have Good Brakes do one of my major recommended services and could not have been happier. Their prices were better than all my other quotes and they were using more expensive parts to boot! If you are looking for a solid auto repair shop that you can trust, and also has good prices, look no further, you just found it :-)
