Please do NOT order from this restaurant. That way, there'll be MORE FOOD FOR ME! I live down the block from HW and order from here at least twice a week. I won't get Chinese take out from anywhere else. The Combination Platters consisting of a main dish, fried or white rice, and eggroll or soup, are fresh, tasty, with large portions. I usually get both an eggroll and soup for an extra dollar. The whole deal comes out to under $10 for dinner (under $8 for lunch) and is always up to my high standard. My favorites are shrimp and broccoli (huge, fresh shrimp that actually taste like shrimp should taste); Singapore rice noodle (just the right amount of spice and incredibly flavorful); General Tso chicken (large chunks of perfectly fried dark meat chicken, with a tangy but not overly spicy sauce).
This place is one of my favorite Chinese restaurant in Michigan. Amazing food definitely quality ingredients. Anything you order is perfect as you expected! The service is pretty fast for a Chinese restaurant I would say very polite staff. The delivery guy is nice and fast too. Food is always warm. I would recommend them to any of my friends and family.
Love their food. I drove 5-1/2 hours downstate to spend the holiday with my family. Five hours into my drive, I went out of my way to stop at Happy Wok to pick up dinner to take with me the last 30 mins to my parent's home. They were surprised I'd do this, but were happy I did. Best takeout Chinese dishes in the area.
Better than I expected considering the interior of the restaurant and my expectation of cheap chinese food. I got the shrimp kung pao dinner combination. The shrimp kung pao was actually really good, as was the rice. My only complaint was that the vegetables were cut very thick and chunky, and there was not a good vegetable to shrimp ratio. However, it was flavorful and the shrimp were good. The spring (or egg) roll was pure cabbage in a roll. kind of disappointing and gross texture-wise. Would order from here again.
First of all it took two hours to get 2 meals delivered. The lady on the phone was rude!!! She got smart with me because they messed up my order. After waiting two hours for sweet and sour chicken anybody would be pissed if they didn't even put the sauce in the bag! This was my first and last time ordering from here! It was hard to try and enjoy the food after going through that! After all that they said they would deliver me a fresh order....that NEVER happened! My goodness I've never had to go through so much just to get some Chinese food....Just sad. I hope you have a better experience.
The restautant has good food. Don't go by the menu. Ask the waiter for options and they will suggest good combos and options. The restaurant is very small with only few tables. It has mainly pick up orders to go. The combos with fried rice are good. Don't order spicy chicken since it is full of large broccoli and very... More
I have ordered from here 3 times and each time all i ordered was 2 California rolls and it has taken almost 3 hours to be delivered each time. This is completely unnecessary!! No delivery should take 3 hours, let alone just 2 California rolls. I called and was told the driver would be there in 5 minutes, 20 minutes later i called again and was told it would be ANOTHER 20 mins. They have not once compensated me for anything either. If you are looking for good food this place isn't too bad, but DO NOT order delivery!!!!!!!!!
DO NOT EAT HERE!! AVOID THIS PLACE. My experience at this restaurant almost cost me my life... LITERALLY. I'll make this story short. I have a peanut allergy however I am still able to eat Chinese food because most places have converted to primarily using veggie oils. Here is where my problem begins. I called to ask "do you use peanut oil or peanuts in your food" the answer was No. I called back ordered my food and asked one other time to be sure they were not using any peanuts. I didn't not Oder delivery I chose to pick my food up. I entered and before I left I double checked to be sure they didn't have any of the items I was purchased on the physical menu as containing peanuts; peanuts not listed. I spoke face to face with a woman who assure me I would be fine. When I arrived to work and started to eat I instantly began having an allergic reaction. I asked a co worker to call and ask for me because I wanted to make sure it wasn't the placebo effect of me freaking myself out. She called and asked several times asking "are you sure, are you sure" the woman constantly assured her there were no traces of peanuts. 2 mins later, as my throat was closing, she called back confirming that the egg roll was indeed wrapped in a peanut sauce. Moral of the story this place, and the people working here do no know what is actually in your food. You could be eating anything and they will not be able to help at all. If you have a food allergy avoid this place at all cost. P.S. The portion I did try was not quality. For there to be so many options in Ann Arbor I would NOT choose this one. I recommend avoiding this hole in the wall place.
Worst experience of my "take out" history. I ordered delivery through grubhub (having doing so many times before.). The delivery driver called me an hour and a half after ordering telling me he was "walking up to my house". The problem is I live in an apartment. It all went down hill from there. I tried to guide him go my apartment, but failed. He called his boss (Malcolm) who than called me to tell me "I didn't know my own address". I calmly informed him I have ordered there successfully many times before. He started shouting.
I ordered food from happy wok and gave them instructions to bring it to the emergency room and left a call back number. An hour and a half went by when I decided to call them, they said they "went to the front of the hospital and spoke with an employee who didn't know anything about the order so we left". they did not try to contact the number that I left with them and the showed up to the wrong part of the building. The person on the phone was being absolutely rude and very unprofessional. If I could give it negative 5 stars I would. If I order from work I usually order from this place because its close, the food is average for Chinese food at best, and now the service is awful. do not buy from this place.
I've eaten in or carried out from most of the Chinese restaurants in and around Ann Arbor. Generally there's good food available. I've driven by this place hundreds of times, but never stopped. Odd spot , no buzz about it, lots of other choices. Too bad it took me so long. I decided to try out a few things to... More
I purchased delivery from the Happy Wok this evening. The delivery time was adequate; about 45 min. The food just wasn't good. I purchased the roti canal, samosas, veggie spring rolls, and donuts. The donuts were definitely the best out of these options. The spring roll was greasy and with very little flavor. The roti bread tasted like cigarette smoke. I didn't like either of the dipping sauces. The samosas were a disaster. In my opinion, the dough of the samosa is what makes it a samosa and unfortunately they simply used a wonton wrapper. Not only that the stuffing was lacking in flavor and freshness. They were over cooked and inedible. So sad I bothered to try this place. Luckily, I didn't spend too much...my total was $16. Do not recommend. Can't wait till the P.F. Changs opens at Briarwood Mall in December 2014. I know they are Americanized Chinese food but at least they are edible and consistent in quality.
This place is horrible need to be close down my chicken was undercooked my rice was undercooked my egg rolls were burnt to hell the sushi was good my pop can I pulled it out and it had black s*** all over the rim as for the customer service she was talking to me like I was some thug on the street overall I'll never return to this place
The food is tasty but it takes them 10 years and a day to deliver. They are ALWAYS late, for example I ordered at 5:58 and it is now 7:34 and my food isn't here. They told me it would arrive between 6:55 and 7:05. This is not the first time it has happened, and I'm so annoyed I might stop ordering.
Whatever the other reviews say about delivery time, it's worth the wait. We loved our food. really flavorful, really fresh. Friendly service. I will make this my #1 spot for delivery. Hit the spot. Prices are fair for the quality of the food and in our case, delivery was under 1 hr and that was across town. Love it.
I really love this place. I admit, I have an addiction to their Chicken Pad Thai. I get it almost every time I order, but I am also a fan of the Cashew Chicken, Sesame Chicken, Pork Dumplings, and Chicken and Broccoli. I like to order it when I leave work and pick it up about 20 minutes later on the way home. I have never eaten in because it is kind of divey, but it really lends itself more to take out. Online ordering is SUPER easy!
