Just got my license today with Hi-Desert! I received a 100% on my Pre-Trip, Air Brakes, and Skills. I got no complaints about this school. Bob, Ken and Jay were helpful. They always had an answer to my question when I had one. I want to thank them for teaching me exactly what I needed to know for my DMV test. I passed on the first try and aced the test. Since they have contracts with bigger companies for job placement, I plan on trying to get hired with May Trucking or Werner Enterprises since their representatives came out and took the time to explain how they hire you and what they pay before you even get your license. Thanks again guys and I will definitely send over whoever is interested in getting their commercial license.
So I went to the school this year there's a couple things that people need to know about the School but if you're looking for that one on one with the instructor this school is not it it's better off that you go somewhere else everything you have to learn on your own from you testing for your permit pre-trip for air brakes if you don't know how to drive stick you will have to pay additional $300 that's not included in the fee also they only take you out three times in the DMV truck and you practice overall the staff is really kind Moses and Ken are really helpful the first time that I went to DMV I failed my dmv test DMV did not have appointments until month later. When I went in the next day to practice after I failed my test I was told not to come until 2 weeks prior before my next test date. I was upset about that because I feel that the more practice you have the more you're going to get better at it so when I came back the two weeks after that I started practicing on my skills the area where I failed on my DMV test Bob the manager thought I was getting better at my skills so he told me to skip one day until my DMV test came up I kept on telling him that I need to practice then he would tell me just come every other day second time that I took my DMV test I passed please know before you enter the school it's better for you to have your permit on hand also just be aware that there is a $35 fee for a certificate for proof of hours of school upon completion I was not told that another thing is what I did really really like about the school is that they work around your hours so if you have a set schedule so if you have a set schedule they work around your hours. Also at DMV just to let you guys beware of Kristi she's a a bitch during test day she rushed me throughout my pre-trip made me hella nervous and a lot of pressure but overall the school was pretty cool at the end I felt like I got my money's worth and what the school intended to get me through my DMV test and get my Class A. Also 2200 plan that. They had Is not unlimited hours there was times that I couldn't drive unlimited hours like they said
Very bad experience, this school is after your money only - I did get my license but without their help, money are the only thing they are interested about...for $1800 you get to watch videos and test yourself on the parking lot...NOT RECOMMENDED TO ANYONE - I paid $950 after I pass myself the writing test and was looking to learn about pre-trip inspection and skill practice, was supposed to be 9 hours, spent a good 4 hours in front of a video screen, no help at all, you just are on your own- then forgot to sign out after one hour waiting for an instructor to help me and got penalized for 4 hours that I paid but got lost in penalty!!! and had basically 3 hours on behind the wheel practice with a great guy (The only one that is a real teacher) his name is Ken, very useful and nice guy that saved me. I really study on my own with no help and the day of the test thay came 15 minutes late with the bus, claiming that it was a mistake...2 hours before the test I was in their office asking to drive the bus to the test, They refused and it was very well noted that my test was at 1:00PM but I think they play a game, I called and screamed to get the bus at the DMV ASAP, as I was about to be rejected and scheduled for another date (6 weeks later) and if it was not for a nice clerk at the DMV who was willing to wait 10 more minutes I will have been rejected, finally the bus came and I was able to pass the test with success BUT NOT BECAUSE OF THEM, ALL THEY DID IS STRESSED ME and I suspect that their intention was for me to fail so I will spend more money. The worst person there that I had to deal with, his name is Moses and this guy is NOT to be trusted whatsoever, be extremely careful of what you sign with him and check every other schools before you sign with them... my claim of very bad business is backed up with proof. DO NOT HAVE ANY BUSINESS WITH THEM
Good school, a lot of people complain about it on some reveiw sites but you get out what you put in. If you sit around expecting them to just hand you a CDL then you need to find another profession. If you are willing to learn and listen to what they tell you with a open mind then you will have no issues.I am excited about my chosen career and glad I found HI DESERT Truck driving school.
VETERANS BEWARE - ALL THEY WANT IS YOUR G.I. BILL --- This is the worst trucking school I could have ever found, But all their promises are lies. They made me sign up, paid over $5000 of my GI bill, only got in the truck once, they made my DMV appt and I didn't even know how to start the truck...I asked the owner (&*^!) I need more time and he said, Only if I pay $4000 more of my GI bill would he give me more time. I found a school that treated me right and taught me correctly, I just got my license, BUT NO THANKS to HI-DESERT, THIEVES!!!

Bob doesn't mess around when he says he'll get you your license. With that said, you better pay attention and listen well to Bob. The price is great and he helps you every step of the way. Trucking isn't for everyone, but if you have the brains and dedication to learn, then you'll do just fine. You can work out a schedule with Bob and show up to the yard and still work part-time or full time. You can even do weekend classes like I did because I worked full-time. Bob even helped me get a job after I had my license.
