I very much liked the business model of this company. I needed to hire someone to replace an old drinking fountain and install a new one. They were different sizes and drywall repair and paint would also be needed in addition to the plumbing for the drinking fountain. The tech that was sent out (Edil) was very polite and called when traffic kept him a few minutes late from his arrival time. He then called again once he arrived. I give Edil 5 stars. We did have a corroded drain pipe and repairs took twice as long as anticipated, but this was not anything that could be foreseen. The job did get completed to our satisfaction. Chris the manager of the company was helpful and good with following up on the project. I give him 3 stars. He was a little defensive when I asked if there would be a receipt or something showing me the charges for the work before my credit card was charged. I wanted to make sure I was good with the completed work before giving him the CC info, but he was offended by me saying that. He wanted to make sure he had the info on hand while we were talking on the phone, in case I could not reach him once the job was complete. I am going to chalk it up to miscommunication, but I think he does need to work on how he speaks with people over the phone.
Diego the worker does good work. But the owner extremely overcharged me. I made the mistake of only getting one quote to have rod and shelves installed in a closet, at $90 an hour. I ended up paying $720 just to have rods and shelves installed in a 3X8 closet. After the fact I received the rest of the quotes and the highest was $240.00 Get quotes from different sources so you don’t make the mistake I just did with HomePro Handyman. ***Update I spoke to this guy this morning to ask for my actual invoice bid and receipts that that never provided and just asked “Why?” Then he proceeded to cuss and call me names threatening me by telling me to lock my doors cus he knew where I lived.
Diego was so awesome! My mom bought two drawer Fisher and Paykal dishwashers and needed a base to sit them on since they obviously weren’t the same size as standard dishwashers. This was a very custom job and Diego came and built custom drawers to sit them on! Couldn’t be more pleased with the outcome! Thanks guys!
Downgraded to 1 star after owners response, which speaks for itself as does his responses to many other negative reviews on Google. Apparently, merely asking for a receipt is too "demanding" and "unreasonable" for this business. Original review: Poor communication, did not receive an invoice until 60 days after repair was made. Quality of work seems okay, but customer service lacking. Did not explain a "misc material" charge on invoice.
The representative on the phone (possibly Chris) was condescending and continually boasting about their ratings and how great there system is. Hourly pricing might be a decent way to go about a project but I would like to know a loose time frame to have an idea of how much we could be spending. I'm needing to install double doors from a single door, repair the water damaged wood floors around it, and hang 3 pendant lights where there is only one light over our island. I asked, "Would it be like 5 or 30+ hours to install the doors? What if I sent pictures, will that help describe the projects?" I feel like these are very reasonable questions to ask as I just wanted a ROUGH estimate to tell my husband. Generally, we'd like to know if we are in for $1,000 or $10,00 and he refused to work with me on our concerns and was extremely rude. We've had extensive home renovations, using an actual general contractor in the past, and are familiar with how renovations can vary in timing and pricing after the initial quote, but are not familiar enough to roughly guess how long each project could take. He answered my questions by just repeating himself about how their customers love this aspect, how they were better than everyone else, and how my projects were just small projects.... but THEN he proceeded to tell me that I needed to call a hardwood specialist to fix the floors because they would be better at it. Aren't they a general contracting business as well?? Isn't installing all new hardwood flooring a "BIG" job?? I repeated myself saying I only need the place with water damage replaced. He then said they could do it. After hearing how they aren't good at floors, I wouldn't want them to fix my floors now! He was somehow offended by every question I asked. I am not going to let any company cut a massive hole on the exterior of my house without asking questions. I also had questions because this company operates different than any other company I have worked with, other than our plumber and sprinkler system guy who are hourly also, BUT they give us a rough estimate on how long it could take and ask me to send them pictures. That works great and we have been using these two guys for years! The representative and I ended the conversation by him interrupting me again to say they didn't want my business while I was trying to explain they would not be a good fit and he hung up before I could finish. Needless to say, this was a terrible experience and now I am writing my first google review. We will be using Handyman Matters who were more than polite and gave a quote (not exact amount!) and were confident they could repair my floors! To add to this I really hopped to use your company as I had spoken to you (the same guy... possibly Chris) months ago and had a completely different experience, a good one. I had been trying to convince my husband to use your way of charging hourly which he was not keen on. I almost had him agree but he wanted me to call one more time to get a loose estimate of hours possibly spent with the understanding of change and I only received defensive condescending rude responses. I am glad I called again because if we had issues with projects underway, you are clearly AWFUL under conflict and unwilling to reconcile. I'm relieved I saved myself from this arrogant company in time! Written by an angry customer in the Forest Hills/White Rock Lake area! Also....In advance to your upcoming reply this is a legitimate review for your company HomePro Handyman Services and licensed General Contracting. This review was not made by "mistake." I am not confused about anything as I remember our conversation vividly stating my concerns. I have attached a photo with YOUR phone number in my called list and the amount of time spent on our conversation. And that I only called 1 time. Would be happy to post my phone bill over the past few months too. Looking forward to your manipulated immature reply as I've read in others posts. (Readers look at the reviews from the company's other branches. All operated by the man I spoke with.)
Chris and his crew have done work for us and our real estate clients for years. Never met a more professional and detailed minded person and all the people he has working for him too. We have had super minor jobs done by them and very major too and always been pleased. They totally renovated my master bath shower and I love it more every time I walk in there. When I contacted this company my first gut feeling was that the guy who answered the phone (Chris) was kind of rude and off-putting. He explained the rate was $90 and hour for a two-hour minimum. I didn't have two hours of work and so the handyman that came over did an hour's worth of work (at best). I found another job he could do and he ran to the local hardware store that was less than a mile away. He spent about an hour and a half gone and then it took him about an hour to actually do the job. In all, I spent close to $500 for two legitimate hours of work because he counts the half hour as an hour. I called him to talk about this but of course I didn't get an answer and I didn't receive a call back, either. I halfway expected this after my first conversation with him. So, the handyman did a fine job - no real complaints other than he took a long time and I was charged way more than I should have been. For this fact alone, I would not use them again and cannot recommend them.
I had a variety of small jobs around the house that needed to be taken care of. Diego came out the same day of my request and completed every job. Some of the jobs were a little challenging, but Diego was able to come up with a solution for every one. I highly recommend Homepro - especially Diego - should you every need any handyman services.
Called Chris and he was very rude over the phone. He has posted bogus locations all over Dallas to try to make it appear that he is a large company. I called another number to get an estimate thinking it was a different company but Chris answered again. When I questioned him about having businesses with different but like sounding names all over the Dallas/Garland area with no addresses listed he became very defensive and hostile towards me and this really happened.....he threatened to come over to my house and slash my tires (he actually said this). I had given him my address the first time I had spoken to him.
I had a number if different jobs that I needed to have professionally done prior to placing my home up for sale. Wendell completed them in a timely manner with excellent work quality. My list included replacing the back door, replacing/repairing damaged siding on the 2nd floor, replacing a number of cracked floor tiles in several different rooms, replacing a light fixture in the kitchen, and replacing a gutter downspout. Without these repairs, my house could have been extremely difficult to sell. It sold in 3 days!
I Called HomePro to fix a few things around the house. They sent out Wendel who fixed everything I needed in a short amount of time. He definitely was a hard worker and did a great job. The only issue I had would be that any supplies that I needed, had to be purchased at Home Depot. Seeing that I live in Royse city and that I have a hardware store next to my house I couldn't understand why the supplies couldn't be purchased there, since I was paying for them. It wouldn't be a problem if I wasn't paying by the hour, but I was a little confused by this. Other than that, he did a great job and I will definitely use this company in the future.
When our new dishwasher wouldn't fit where the old one used to, we needed a Carpenter, and fast! I jumped on Yelp and called a handful of highly rated companies, but Chris at HomePro Handyman was the only one who worked with me to get someone out in less than a week. AND they work on weekends!! He also said if an opening appeared in their schedule prior to my appointment he'd give me a call and try to fit me in sooner. We were scheduled for Saturday at 9am, but Chris texted me Friday morning and said he had someone in my area who could come by, I responded "yes!" and Wendell arrived shortly after. Wendell was incredible. He knew his stuff and quickly got to work on our cabinets. He altered the cabinets to make space for the dishwasher and it looks amazing. You would never know the cabinets had been touched. Wendell also did a great job cleaning up after himself and was professional and courteous the entire time. He even took a couple moments to explain to my very curious 3yr old what he was doing and the tools he was using. I would highly recommend HomePro Handyman Services.
Manager Chris talks to customers with a rude demeanor and little respect. I felt frustrated and angry after every interaction and attempts to engage in a friendly discussion about my project. They are the last company (i use that word loosely) i would ever recommend and an infuriating reminder to pay attention to reviews before hiring
I work for a building in Uptown and the commercial service we got from Chris at Home Pro was fantastic. Our basketball rim snapped and they were able to repair a commercial grade rim for a very reasonable price. They were great at communicating with me on where we were at with timing when I asked and they had it installed right on time. I was extremely happy with Home Pro and would recommend them for any basketball rim repairs in the future. So glad to have met Chris and worked with him. Thank you, Home Pro!
HomePro did a great job repairing my drywall and painting under the sink. Recently bought a home and the previous owners had a leak under the sink that led to mold. I had mold behind my dishwasher! HomePro cut out the mold, sprayed it down with Clorox and got the mold out! Being a first time home buyer HomePro made this easy for me. I had several mold companies deny the job because it was too small of a project and they only want to do big jobs.
I have used HomePro Services twice, once for damaged cabinets under bathroom sinks. The work was done satisfactorily , and I felt the cost was a little high. My complaint on this is that the owner states on his invoice that he does not markup material cost but does not provide receipts or details on those costs. Second time using HomePro is where I feel it really shows that this owner has no professionalism and I also feel he does not know how to communicate with others. This project was larger but by no means a huge one. I needed my carpet replaced due to water damage and decided to replace with wood floors. We agreed to a price per sqft and needed 270 sqft of wood floors installed. We agreed on a price of around $2400. When his workers arrived, they pushed the idea of tile to my wife and asked the owner to let us know if this was a possibility. The owner decided to get samples of the tile and show us that day and give us the cost. At this point we only had the cost of the tile and no other additional costs listed, nor an updated bid. Instead, he just changed the original agreement to a time and material bid. (note, all of this was done verbally and no signatures were ever provided.) So, at this point I allowed them to continue with the job and was estimated to take a couple of days. This was not the case and I was billed at 90 man hours with 2 guys to install 330 sqft of tile (note, this did include some additional work repair concrete hole and cabinets 3hrs). I did some research and called other floor installers and found that the average time to install 330 sqft of tile was 35-40 man hours so based on this information, I feel it took way longer than necessary after he changed the bid to time and material. After the rooms had been installed I noticed that the tile was not straight and called the owner to discuss why this happened. He told me that the walls were not straight and that the room moved 4 inches. I went to measure myself and found that the room was only off by less than a 1/4 of an inch. At this point, with all the time that has been racked up, I asked that we move on a discount the cost for the mistake instead of pulling up 80% of the floor to repair. I asked that we deduct $1000 of the cost, he was not happy with that but did agree. This was on the final day and was going to be completed in a half day, but after that call they took the whole day to complete the job. During my final inspection, they reinstalled a closet door that would not close. Points of concern: During trips to get material that they left over night, and I noticed they had purchased materials not intended for our job. Owner is not providing receipts as agreed upon and I feel communication with the owner is very unacceptable: I followed up with him 3 days after payment ($8000) regarding the receipts as agreed and was told that he will get to it. The next day I stated that I will put my check on hold if he does not provide me the receipts as agreed upon. I was then threated with a lawsuit for theft of service and was told to relax twice. I have ended communications with the owner as it would be a waste of my time. I will state that I am to blame for continuing to work with him and I accept that, but I hope this will deter others from feeling like they were harassed and taken advantage of.
Steer clear of this place, we used them because our builder sent us here. The communication is horrible you think your getting something and then your not once the intel comes out. We paid $5000 for wiring basically. Are you kidding me!!!!!!! Crooks , and getting through to anyone on the phone is an absolute joke! Good luck giving one star because it won't let you give a negative
The owner was very disrespectful to my wife and to me as well. I asked for an invoice to pay him and he said he did not do business that way? What company does not do that. His prices changed as well. He quoted my wife one price then came back and wanted to charge us more. Speaking to his employees, they even said he was a shady owner. As the owner said to us, we were a waste of his time. Well, he was a waste of our time. So don't waste your time on him. Also watch out, he goes by many different company names. look for Chris Dandrige - don't spend your money with him. He does not appreciate it nor deserve it.
My service was very unprofessional the cabinets I had installed were severely unaligned. I had to tell the tech how to do the job in which if that was the case, I could have hired myself. I contacted the owner Chris Dandridge, who advised to have the tech redo the job. I did but I was charged more money. Later, on after I posted a review on Google I received a threatening call that i better watch my back and he knows where I live. Following the call I received a text from the owner, Chris Dandridge, stating that I am a difficult person and good luck. HOW PROFESSIONAL!!! So, now not only do I have ruined cabinetry there is glue residue on each one of them that is very noticeable. The crown and the light trim were ruined as well. I will never use this service ever again nor will I ever recommend him BEWARE!!!
Do not use this guy! Chris Dandridge is a shady character. Look him up on other review sites. He creates different Yelp pages, Facebook pages and Google pages for different city's to cover up his sketchy business practices. You can read negative reviews about him threatening people, hidden cost and vandalizing peoples homes if things do not go his way. Do your research before hiring this guy.
I would never recommend this company. They accused me of making mistakes because they used the materials I provided for the project and they used the materials incorrectly. They used concrete for the caulk and the concrete was to be used to anchor the bolts. He also told us that we could not touch the project as it had to cure. I found out this pro was not a plumber and I may have to have a real plumber come out and repair the toilet. They insisted I would have to pay to have them come back out. I also asked for a receipt and they said they would mail it.
DON'T HIRE THEM!! I called them to have a door replaced at $90 per hour, for two hours. I call office next day to send me the bill. Four days later, the owner shows up at my door to collect bill. I thought it rather odd that he personally came by but I gave him his money. Then he proceeds to badger me that the workers I had in my house were workers from his business.
I can't begin to say how shady this business is. Repair man broke almost everything he was trying to repair which resulted in more trips to the store (which is charged by their hourly rate) and for a store that is 4 miles away, each trip took 2 or more hours. They also charge for parts, which no receipts were provided for and owner, Chris, refused to provide. When the toilet started leaking water on the floor the repair man threatened to leave when I asked that it be repaired. My house is only 11 years old and all the broken parts were blamed on being old. When the repairs started I at least had working items - I now have another plumber coming to fix the kitchen sink that was taken apart and not repaired as the right part could not be found (and he tried talking me into a whole new sink/faucet), the bath tub spigot that was fixed did not match the handle and the next morning shot off the pipe (would have injured me if I would have been in there), bathroom sink now has one less handle (which he refused to fix) - and owner Chris could not understand why I was upset and said I was being unreasonable, that nothing would make me happy and that he could not "trust me" so nothing he would do would make the situation better. When I asked for a receipt for the payment and the materials he flat refused. Said he would take me to court if I canceled the payment (which he added hours to that repairman was not here.) Overall I have a shower head that is now leaking and I won't go into how I had to explain the adjustable guts for the toilets to the repairman. But I the customer was the unreasonable person who made it "miserable" for the repairman. Wouldn't recommend this company to anyone. In the 9 hours repairman was here two toilets were fixed, two screws put into a shelf to secure it, a new weather strip on one door and a roof vent sealed that was leaking.
I called to get a quote on a couple items that needed attention around the home. He informed me of the hourly rate of $90 and minimum of two hours. I told him I didn't believe the items would take two hours so I was going to call a couple other services to try to find someone without a minimum. He became condescending by stating "you think someone can arrive at your house, deal with those things, leave to get parts and complete the job all within an hour?" I told him I felt he was being rude and I would not need his services. I began to say "thank you for your time" but he had already hung up on me. Maybe because I'm female? Not sure.
Home Pro Services came out and repaired three leaks around windows. We have not yet had a rain sufficient to test the work but the carpenter from Home Pro Services seemed to do a professional job of calking, and painting. The work was completed in the amount of time I expected and they were very pleasant do deal with all through the process. I will be having them out for additional work in other areas of my home.
Called this company to replace a mailbox; initially they were very nice and scheduled a service call for 9 - 10 am the following morning. When no one showed up or called by 10:15 am (had been told we would be called if there was a problem) we attempted to call - first person said they did not have a contact number and would send a message; the second person hung up when we asked for a manager, and the third person (called at 11 am) repeated what the first person said. I then emailed them - we got a phone call back where the person said they texted us last night. My spouse explained he did not have our cell phone number and was told to "calm down you stupid m* f*". We were SHOCKED. I received this reply to my email (who provided a different name than who called although he claims to be the same person):
Excellent service experience, The carpenter arrived on time and was prepared for a wide variety of tasks to get my house ready to be sold. Drywall repairs, painting, siding repairs, water damage, roof leak, plumbing, floor & tile. Two men took two days and less than my quote.
Diego did an amazing job. I had a large section (about 4 feet by 2 feet in the corner of a closet) of drywall that needed to be replaced after having a leaky pipe issue. I bought an access panel that I wanted to be added into the area that needed new drywall so any future issues would be easier to get to by a plumber.
We called & we were impressed from our initial phone inquiry. We discussed all our needs and was given an immediate quote based on time & materials. We needed various handyman services including waterdamage related issues like drywall repairs, painting, plumbing & electrica all of it handled by one amazing craftsman & a very good helper apprentice.
I found this Handyman company on the BBB website and glad I did. When I called they answered the phone & was able to give me a quote based on time & materials. After answering a few questions they estimated my project for $450 labor plus materials right over the phone for my roof leak to my ceiling. They sent me a very good carpenter he said he would take less time then the quote. It turned out to be $388.00 with materials. the ceiling looks like new, I would recommend them to anyone looking for a good honest contractor! Was this review helpful to you?
Avoid at all costs, I had them install some cabinet pulls in my kitchen. Was originally quoted 350-400 dollars for the job. The guy showed up @ 9:30 after I was told he'd be there at 9:00. He then spent an hour and a half at home depot which is literally 2 minutes from my house. The quality of work is decent, all the handles are straight. He did scratch up a few of my cabinets when he pushed the drill through too much. Thank goodness I had some stain that matched to cover up the scratches on my brand new dark cabinets. Then around noon, he took an hour+ break for lunch. He finished the job up around 5:00 in the evening.
The contractor was 45 minutes late and no attempt to communicate this issue was made after I expressed the importance of being on time when the service was scheduled due to my husband and my work schedules. I called Chris to inquire. He called me back to tell me the contractor was on his way. Understand. Life happens. I respectfully asked that in the future, someone contact me to inform me of the situation. This is when THE OWNER BECAME EXTREMELY RUDE, UNPROFESSIONAL AND YELLED AT THE CUSTOMER. Yes, raised his voice to an unacceptable level. Chris told me, "I don't know what the big deal is....He is coming." When I calmly explained I may not be able to stay at the house through the entire project and will not be leaving the contractor in my house, he grew more angry. Chris let me know the contractor called me but I didn't answer. Not true- no missed calls in my call history. In addition, even the contractor confirmed he never attempted to call me.
I was looking for a remodeling business to do some home repairs. I Googled businesses and started calling the numbers provided to get quotes. When I called the Lubbock number posted on the HomePro Professional Drywall, Painting and Handyman Services website I was sure I dialed an 806 number, however the voice mail recording said something about leaving a message for a 214 number, which confused me. Thinking I dialed the wrong # I hung up and dialed the number again and got the same recording. I figured out the 806 line was somehow forwarded to this 214 number. I decided that I didn't really want to leave a message and thought I would just call back later in the day and maybe talk to someone instead. I hung up and called the next business on the Google search page. After calling other remodeling businesses and getting their voice mails as well, I decided that I was going to have to call them back and leave messages for them to call me.
DO NOT LET THEM IN! After nicely telling the workers that I'd have to consider their estimate they leave my house and proceed to go outside of one of my bedroom windows where one of them urinated on the side of my house. I called the owner and he lectured me about his guys being pulled off of another job to do 2 hours minimum at my house, I finally got a word in to tell him what his guy did and he apologized. I asked him to send 2 other guys out and we'd like to get some work done and he told me he wouldn't be dealing with us anymore and hung up on me. I do not NOT recommend this company. Beware of who you let around your home.
