Terrence was SO helpful - he rushed here while the inspector was here last Thursday. He troubleshot the issue and got me appointment for today (Tuesday) to bring crew here to make adjustments needed to pass the inspection. Such a pleasant person, knowledgeable and a good technician as well. Thanks so very much for your help Terrance! Also a shout out to Ryan and Zack who came here today along with Terrance - they all worked with the inspector and resolved the issue - efficiently and completely. Thanks again! Carolyn
GLOWS: There is nothing good to say about this company. GROWS: DO NOT give this company your money. They are dishonest cons. I haven't had an HVAC prior to moving into my current house, so am ignorant to the maintenance and I played pretty dumb when they came out, just to see what they would say. Fortunately for me and my bank account, I'm not as dumb as I can pretend to be. First, they were scheduled to arrive between 2-5pm. They called to say they'd be late and come after 5pm. I cancelled my evening plans to wait for them. Then at 5:40 they cancelled and rescheduled for the next day. Again, scheduled for 2-5pm. First they called me at 1pm to say they'd be there in 40 minutes. Then about 20min later I got a call saying they'd be there at 3:30. At 5:45 when no one had arrived I called them. They said the tech was on his way. He arrived at about 6:30. But that's not even the worst part. Cameron, a supervisor, completely tries to play the nice, helpful, "let me take care of all your needs" serviceman. He asked me for $1200 to check for a leak on my HVAC because it was not getting cold. Then he told me I needed a new compressor. But, he said it would be illegal for him to replace my compressor for EPA violations because my HVAC is original (1970s). So, he quoted me $9-13k for a new unit. While he was on the roof looking at my unit, made some calls and I got two other opinions, both said that it is NOT $1200 to check for a leak. It's incredibly simple. They also both said that It is not illegal to replace my compressor. I had someone else come out to look at my unit. He told me it's actually from 1996, not the 70s as Kalka's guys said. He had it running cold in 30 minutes with super cold air. He replaced 1 part and added a pound of refrigerant. These units are not supposed to leak and mine in fact does not have a leak. So, there is a reason to wonder if Cameron from Kalka intentionally leaked out refrigerant when he was here. This company is ridiculous and had the audacity to offer me $500 off their insanely inflated quote for a new HVAC, that I didn't need, if I agreed to buy one that day. Then, before leaving my home he gave me a $50 gift certificate. What a slap in the face! It's a shame that people like Kalka's supervisors try to take advantage of customers. Don't let them fool you and rob you for something you don't even need. You're better off calling small businesses who base their work off referrals and are honest. I'm happy to recommend the guy I used if you contact me on Yelp.

The two installation specialists from Kalka HVAC, Quang and Fabian, were outstanding! To begin with, they were extremely knowledgeable about the installation process. On top of that, they were both very friendly people who did everything possible to keep from intruding into the normal household workings. The two gentlemen arrived each of the two mornings on time and ready to begin work. They took great care to make sure that they didn't make a mess anywhere they were working - either inside or outside. And each afternoon, they took the needed time to clean up after themselves. Quang, the lead technician, answered all of my questions. He explained all of the steps they were taking as they went along. He made sure that I was aware of all aspects of the installation process. I am very pleased with the service that these two men provided.
I had a very positive experience with this company and the service guys they sent out, Shane and Zachary. I needed an assessment done on my AC system to determine why water was leaking from it. They were prompt and very efficient and knowledgeable about the problem. They were helpful and polite and I will definitely use this company again.
Ryan and Lawrence spent 20 hours over 2 days (in addition to their morning calls) installing my new compressor and removing and replacing a very tough to access overhead hydronic heater/air handler. Even the plumbing to it required some creative adaptions and they handled it expertly. They didn't cut any corners when it came to testing for leaks, effectiveness of operation of the units, or cleaning up each day when they finished. I really appreciate the hard work and extra hours they put in to getting my new climate control up and running, it sure beats the rusty hunks of junk I've been settling with for the past few years. Kalka is worth every penny. Thank you Ryan and Lawrence!
Andy and a young man he was training were on time and prepared to replace the anti-bacterial bulb on the air conditioner. Things didn't go well from the beginning. There was some uncertainty about how to remove the old bulb that required a call to the office. After the new bulb was finally installed I asked Andy to show me that it was working. He said that the unit holding the bulb was broken and he'd order a new one that should arrive in about two weeks. A temporary unit was attached to the AC to hold the bulb which now worked fine.. A few hiccups along the way, but things turned out OK in the end.
I contacted Kalka to install an attic fan and once they went into the attic, they told me I needed new duct work. Shane is by far the most professional service man. He went right to work and secured a team to assist him. All of Kalka's employees that came to my home, a total of 7, were all professional and hard workers. I would recommend Kalka to anyone in need of a heating/air conditioning company. But be sure to ask for Shane, he's the best!
They arrived at 8:56 am right as scheduled and left my home after 11 pm that night. Yes that is correct, the Kalka team that came to my home worked a 14 hour day to give my home a complete new heating & A/C system, including duct work and the full shebang! At first there was two technicians, then three, then four, and finally a fifth arrived. There might have been more but I lost track! They worked fast, they worked hard, they worked cleanly and diligently. But most importantly the Kalka Heating & Air team was knowledgeable, skilled, and did the job as a master craftsman would only do. The team was polite, the team was care full, the team cleaned before they set in for the job and cleaned again upon completion - even after an exhausting 14 hour day! My home was respected - I never felt that things would go lost, be broken, or stolen. So much so by dinnertime I left the army of busy Kalka workers unattended as I went out to dinner with the wife. Heck they even smelled good! Edil - thank you for taking the time to explain everything and listen to my concerns. From the start your knowledge was clear and it helped me feel comfortable with what was to happen next. Quang - thank you for answering my questions and quelling my fears about the old aluminum wiring we have in my home. Jose, Rae, and Terrence - Thank you for your detail and care. Even when you were filthy from working in my old dirty attic you took great steps not to get my home dirty. Robert - Thank you. You are the creator of my new air condition system. And the reason I went with Kalka. Kalka Heating & Air Conditioning, I wanted to close by saying I received many bids for my new heat/ac system. Yours was not only the best - beating out such others are Home Depot's (outrageously expensive) and Costco's estimate - but I never expected a crew as knowledgeable, courteous, and polite. From the initial sales visit with Robert and his follow up calls, to the direction of the team under Edil's command, and how Quang, Jose, Rae, and Terrence executed Edil's requests. Everyone's knowledge and craftsmanship, care and cleanliness... I could never have envisioned an install going so well, but I actually can refer to my install as fun!
I invest in homes in Southern California and several of them are in Laguna Hills. With summer approaching and the air conditioning unit fried, I had figure something out before my tenants lost their minds. I have a masters degree but I know less than nothing when it comes to air conditioning. I called Kalka and spoke with Juny who met up with me quickly for a quick quote. We came to a deal and within that same day I had a brand new air conditioning unit. I'd like to thank Juny for being so helpful and knowledgable and working quick and efficiently!
The AC on my house wasn't getting cold no matter how long Id keep it running, I finally got frustrated enough to call Juny with Kalka and I'm glad I did. In no time they came over figured the problem out, they worked their magic and..... COLD AIR! They didn't even have to replace my unit even though I'm probably due for one. I'll use Kalka again and I recommend you give them a call! Great service!
Im not going to lie I was heated literally when I found the place that I had purchase had messed up vents...etc. I wanted to call my laywer straight up because for some reason the people I was dealing with were shady in telling me how well put together the place was. Even with all my anger I somehow ended up going straight to yelp and call up all of the air conditioning and heating places in search of the best price. Came across this place and they seemed to have the best deal so I went along with them. Juny came by and totally hooked your girl up with brand new equiptment and everything. This area is hot and I needed my air in order for me and my hair to survive the summers. Thanks you guys.
Thomas H. Came out to my house today to do a yearly checkup on my A/C unit as well as give me an estimate for my air ducts getting re done to be more efficient. He was super friendly and very courteous about coming into my house and getting his work done. He was very thorough making sure he explained everything to me so I could understand what he was talking about, he never tried to upsell me on any products or replacements, I never felt pressured to do any of his recommendations. He is even going to come back on a Saturday when my husband is home to explain everything to him as well! I was extremely pleased with Thomas and his service visit today! My son even dumped the dogs water bowl all over the floor and he helped right away to clean it all up!! Thank you Thomas!!!
Best choice for ANY A/C problems you may have. Fast, professional, and I didn't feel like they were just trying to milk me for money, like a lot of other companies do. If you've got the chance, ask for Omar to assist you through your financing needs. His help is what really pushed this review up to 5 stars!!!
We had Kalka and another company look at our heater and AC units outside because they were noisy and didn't seem to be functioning properly. The other company was very brief and truly didn't evaluate our equipment and said they were fine. Robert spent more than 1 1/2 hours looking at and testing our equipment, explaining issues and showing us what was wrong. They (Terrence, Kalani, Quang and Robert) worked with us and by the end of the next day we had 2 new heaters and 2 new AC units. They were professional, timely, polite and clean. Overall it was one of the best experiences we have had while having work performed on our house. We would highly recommend them to a friend or family member with no hesitation.
I was called recently by Kalka to offer an annual AC unit check up. The two representatives Shane and Thomas were outstanding. They spent nearly an hour going over every aspect of my unit, explaining in clear detail how to get the best use out of my current unit, which is quite old, as well as sharing what i need to prepare for in the future and the units that most likely will fit my needs and budget. First of all, what company these days ever offers to just come out and provide free work for an hour. I was blown away by their attention to detail, their concern for my well being and the cheerfulness they brought to the job. I know this ... when it comes time to finally replace my unit, Kalka will be my first call and if at all possible I will request Shane and Thomas ... they went well beyond the call of duty. Thanks.
I have to say I am very impressed with the repairs they did to my air conditioning system without having to replace it, which would have been very costly. I will say they are not the least expensive, but I guess you get what you pay for. I received great customer service from beginning to end from all of their staff. I was most impressed by their accounting person, Omar. He quickly caught a discrepancy in my payment and instead of keeping the over-payment they refunded me the difference. Great company to go with.
The first two times I was satisfied with their service. I have them come out twice for bi-annual maintenance. However their service has turned into a sales tactic where they try and scare the customer into unneeded repairs. They do fine on the service, but this scare/sales tactic is not acceptable. I have stopped using them.
Called this company for an estimate to reinstall heating unit, during the scheduling I was told that the company can give a 4 hour window, I informed them I was driving a 120 miles to meet them and I did not want to be waiting around for 4 hours. I was given a time of 11:30 am and was told someone would call me 30-45 minutes before they would arrive. I made it to the property at 11 am, I had not heard from Kalka and it was now 30 minutes before they would there and they promised they would call, so I called them. I was told that now the service technician would be able to meet me between 11 am and 1 pm. I explained that is not what we agreed upon and by 11:30 am the technician showed up on time. The technician cam inside the property, looked at the unit that needed to be reinstalled and asked me if I would like to replace the unit, I told him no, the unit may not look new but it was rebuilt 2 years ago with a 5 year warranty. He took pictures and told me he would have an estimate later that afternoon. After two days, after receiving nothing or hearing nothing, I called them and asked about the estimate, and was told the owner has decided to not reinstall my unit because it is old, yet it is 100% working condition when installed. The owner went on to tell me on the phone that his company makes money selling parts and not labor, in other words buy a new unit from them or we can't help you, even after they said they could and I drove a told of 240 miles and the owner told me, "Well that's how it is". If I could think of name that spells ripoff scum it would be spelled "Kalka Heating and Air Conditioning and Plumbing"
My feelings for Kalka are mixed. I first had them come over to my house to fix mistakes another company made (that was Ductz), primarily affixing duct work to the underneath of my house, which Ductz kept screwing up (it kept coming loose and falling to the ground - they had to come back three times before I gave up and called Kalka). The Kalka technician not only quickly fixed our duct issues, he was able to fix other shoddy work made by other HVAC companies over the years. I now have them come over for bi-annual maintenance for my AC, plumbing and furnace, and for that work they are very thorough, and seem to be reasonably priced. My main gripe with them, is that whenever I get a quote for additional work, it's ridiculously expensive. Like new lining for a sewer pipe (quoted $10k by Kalka, yet $6k and $7k by others), or changing out a thermostat (quoted $600 by Kalka, yet $160 by a well reviewed competitor). So - I still would highly recommend them for maintenance on HVAC and plumbing, but definitely shop around for individual jobs.
