Colonial Cafe & Ice Cream

1663.6 mi

Kids eat free on Mondays after 4, but the prices are low enough and the food is tasty enough that this place is a bargain any day of the week. Your kids will definitely want to try one of the 5 specialty sundaes that are much bigger and better than their $2.39 price would make you think! My kids also liked breakfast at any time-the M&M pancakes were an especially huge hit! To top it all off, there's a clown that goes from table to table on Monday nights making this place a hit!

Zante of Orland

$8 burgers for a buck every Wednesday & $5 all you can eat wings on Mondays make this place well worth the stop! I went without the kids on a Monday to take advantage of the wings and the mugs of beer that weren't just frosted, they were pretty much coated in a thick layer of ice that made it that much better. Hey, if I'm going to enjoy the occasional night out without the kids I want to make the most of it while still spending the least of it!

Won Kow Restaurant

1690.6 mi

The $4.50 lunch special gets you an entree, rice, soup, and all the Chinese tea & water you can drink. The entrees are big enough for most kids to split, and the food is the best I've had in Chinatown. Plus, the kids love walking around the shops afterward where you can always pick up some souvenirs for just a buck or 2. And if you park in the Chinatown Parking Lot (it's hard to miss) get your ticket validated and pay just 2 bucks! That about as cheap as parking gets in the city!

Feast Restaurant & Bar

1691.3 mi

Kid's eat free from 5-9 every Sunday at Feast with an adult purchase (a $7 value), but I have to admit I snuck this one in for the days when I'm sans kids! On Wednesdays, if I can get somebody to go with me (playing the "poor me taking care of all those kids with no time to myself" card works well!) it's just $25 for 2 courses & a glass of wine. Mon. & Tues. you can get 1/2 price bottles of wine, and the food is excellent. Throw in some alfresco dining on a nice night, and this dad is in heaven!

Jason's Deli

1690.3 mi

2 kids eat free with each adult purchase every Monday after 4 at this place which was just named the best restaurant in America by Parents Magazine! And every other day, kid's meals are only about $2.50 to $3.50 (including drink!). Jason's is kind of like Panera (my daughter's favorite) but healthier, a little cheaper, and much tastier! Eat good, feel good, and best of all, save good! Okay so that's not perfect grammar, but it's true

Gino's East

1691.5 mi

My kids love 2 types of places more than any other: places they can act like kids, & any place that's been on TV. So when we saw Gino's on Man vs. Food & Adam was eating deep dish while writing on the wall, our fate was sealed :) A large deep dish sausage for $24 was plenty of food for us especially after eating bruschetta ($7) and Antipasta ($9). We spent a bit more than we usually do but we ate like TV stars & the kids got to write on the walls; it's tough to put a price on that type of deal!

Champps Restaurant & Bar

1676.7 mi

Champs has the typical buy one adult entree get two free from 5-9 every Tuesday. No big deal, right? Wrong. 2 words: balloon guy. That's right, a guy walking around the restaurant making ballon animals is all it took for my kids to beg me to come here every week. The free sundae bar had a little something to do with it too! Be sure to call before going to see if the balloon guy is there though, one time he was home sick-my kids eyes all looked like those of a sad puppy dog balloon animal 

Lone Star Steakhouse

1682.9 mi

My boys are meat eaters. If you put one of those Fred Flintstone sized pieces of meat In front of them it wouldn't last long. That's why they love this place. Now let me tell you why I love it :) On Tuesdays, 2 kids eT free for each paying adult. It gets better. One of the meals they can get for free is the steak medallions (regularly $6.49!). And it gets even better. Two adults can dine for $25 & get an appetizer to boot! So for 25 bucks or so, the meat eaters are happy and I'm even happier 

Cafe 24

1676.6 mi

I stopped by this place after taking the kids to the movie theater right next to it, and had no idea I was in for a pleasant surprise: over 13 kids meals including a drink for just $3.99! It was nice because my picky eating daughter was able to get her chicken fingers while my carnivore son was quite happy with the 2 large pieces of bacon that came with his meal! Have a kid with a case of insomnia? Well you might as well head over to Cafe 24 because this deal is available 24/7!

Steak 'N Shake

1661.8 mi

My kids can eat pancakes. And eat, and eat, and eat! It may be called Steak & Shake, but it should be called Steak & Shake & Pancakes! Every day from 6 AM to 11 PM my kids can gorge themselves on as many pancakes as they want for just 4 bucks, and believe me, they do! BTW adults can also cake it up to their heart's content too for the same price--hey, would I be a cool dad if I couldn't out eat my kids? Of course not :)

Shaw's Crab House

1691.2 mi

Are one or two of your kids seafood lovers like mine? If so, this is the deal for you! On Sundays up to 2 kids can eat from the buffet for free for every paying adult. Now the adult price is $45 but listen to some of what it includes: snow crab, lobster bisque & pasta, oysters, shrimp, king crab bites, and even cotton candy! add it all up and you'll get much more than just your $45 worth! My son would eat enough shrimp by himself to make this the best seafood deal I've found yet!

New York Buffet and Steakhouse

1659.7 mi

I remember loving this place when I was a kid, and now my own kids love it too. Why? You guessed it, the buffet! I've yet to meet a kid that doesn't love a buffet, and what's even better is kids eat for just 99 cents on Tuesdays (with an adult purchase. A taste of nostalgia at nostalgic prices = love 

Old Country Buffet

1679.7 mi

There's just no place like the good Old Country Buffet--especially when kids 11 and under eat free every Monday and Tuesday. Now technically, you get 2 free kids for every one adult, but if you happen to have the right person ringing you up, you might get away with 3 or 4  I guarantee your kids will eat more than their weight in mac 'n cheese because as my son says, it's beast!

Rainforest Cafe

1691.0 mi

On Wednesday evenings kids can eat for just $1.99 & my kids absolutely LOVE this place! Where else can you go eat in the middle of a thunderstorm & not get wet while a gorilla pounds his chest? Plus the kids get really excited about bringing their cups home. And as we walk out with the kids smiling as they stare in amazement at their cheap plastic cups & me smiling at my still nearly-full wallet, I whisper to myself, "Mission accomplished!" ;)

Denny's

Denny's? You mean that place you see on every corner advertising their "grand slam?" That's exactly the place I mean, only this specific Denny's is different. Every Tuesday & Friday 2 kids eat free with every 1 adult entree purchase of JUST $2.50 OR MORE! Since I have 5 kids, that's where Grandma & Grandma come in ;) So, I can be a good son and a good dad all at once even while getting away with one grand slam of a deal!

Looking for a great idea for a "Daddy-Daughter Date Night?" If you said yes, then don't pass up this opportunity to embarrass the heck out of your pre-teen daughter like I plan on doing on June 16th! And while she is enjoying what she describes as "the best" chicken nuggets and I chow down on a tasty sandwich, there may be awkward silence, but I know that's just her way of saying, "Dad, you're the best!" Check out their slew of other kid friendly events on their website-there's a ton!

Village Pizza

1679.9 mi

2 for 1 Chicago style pizza delivered straight to my door from an old-fashioned neighborhood pizza joint. As I sit on my couch with my feet up, I hand the $23 to my son, and mere seconds later dinner, the next day's breakfast (but only if it's cold!), and lunch is on the kitchen table. Life is good ;) BTW the 2 for 1 coupons are in the Val-Pack every month, but they never take them anyway, so you probably won't even need one!
