I still do not understand why, after being a customer for over 50 years, I cannot take my sports car off the road for the winter WITHOUT having to surrender my plates at the DMV. I know that both State Farm and at least two others allow their customers to suspend insurance coverage when the car is going to sit in the garage all winter. It is a terrible inconvenience to have to remove plates, wait at the DMV, then wait at the DMV a second time in order to put the car back on the road in the spring. Yes, it saves hundreds of dollars in collision coverage, but a company a large as Allstate, with a DEVOTED client such as myself, should allow for a "good faith" suspension WITHOUT the hassle. I will pursue this further with other agencies.
We have been Allstate customers for over 30 years. We recently added our homeowners to our existing automobile/umbrella policies with Allstate. Our experience with Ms. Kathy Backus (Licensed Sales Producer, Kim Mezzio Agency, Hamburg, New York) was extraordinary. Ms. Backus ("Kathy" to us) has always been professional. If she tells you she will investigate the issue(s) and get back to you, she does. If you have questions, she is patient and always tries to answer or find someone who can provide an answer. It's mainly because of Ms. Backus that we have remained loyal to the agency. We truly believe we are "in good hands" with Ms. Backus.
Unfortunately I am disappointed in this specific claim. I understand there is only so much in an agents power, but amount of time this is taking is asinine. But truly am more upset that I have yet to hear any type update from an Allstate aspect, since late November. It has been 4 months since the initial ********, and I've seen/heard absolutely nothing. The other person involved clearly rear-ended me, and I had to go through the holidays out $500 dollars for something that I had no power over. And yet I continue to pay you, Allstate, month over month for this level of service? I feel as my loyal insurance team, would have fought harder for this to be processed or at least been transparent/communicate as to where this claim stands. At this moment I am highly dissatisfied for Allstate's services.
I just have to say that Sam Mezzio and all of his staff are fantastic agents. He took over 15 minutes of his time to answer all of my questions, and believe me, I had a lot of them. Between Kim, Sam, and Cathy, they are always there for my daughter and me. They give us that small town feeling, knowing that we have the great insurance of Allstate for great coverage and a great price. I always leave there feeling very safe and secure in my insurance decisions! I would definitely recommend them to not just anyone, but everyone!
New customers get cheaper rates than current customers. I have been a Alstate customer for over 50 years. I recently got a quote from State Farm that was significantly lower than Alstate. When I showed the quote to my Alstate agent they matched the State Farm quote. Rates keep increasing for current Alstate customers if you don't say anything.
Allstate has been my home, auto and rental insurance provider for nearly forty years so it goes without saying my satisfaction level is very high. Over the many years the service by this team at the Hamburg Agency has been responsive and timely as needed. It's good to know they will be ready and able to help when any urgent need arises.
The local agent is fine but they really don't do much that I can see. When I had a claim, I had to file it myself with someone somewhere and I didn't like his attitude one bit. Locally they helped by sending a fax of the form requested but that's about it. I had to do all the leg work and that didn't seem fair to me. Why are the local agents needed in the first place then?
At first I was apprehensive about the way the claim was to be handled, not having an adjustor look at the damage. This was further compounded with my attempt and failure to use the property vizulation app. Because the property did not provide enough camera perspectives it failed. However, the agents that I spoke with were very helpful in circumventing this problem. As instructed, I emailed them photographs of the damage and they were able to make a fair estimate for the claim which they explained in detail as well as providing me with a printout of the estimate. The payment was in deposited in my bank within a couple of days and I am in the process of getting the house repaired this week. My only concern is is the cost of removing the tree which was only partly covered in this case. I think that if Allstate was to provide a rider for tree removal on my property I would certainly included it in my policy. Like those who live in a flood plain, I am surrounded by large trees that could pose a problem. I am proactive in preventing this from happening, though in this case it was my neighbor's tree. In all, I am totally satisfied with Allstate's resolution of my claim.
