The food itself is not bad. Not great, but not bad. The workers there however almost always have a bad attitude. There have been multiple times they have been extremely cheap with how many paper plates they'll give with one or more entire pizza pies. I remember one instance when my mother called to order one …
Wow I had a totally different experience than some other people. Been here many times in the past. Went again with my boyfriend and it was as good as ever. So I decided to take my sister a few weeks later. The Decor is fine and no different than any other restaurant over 10 years old. The Pizza section is even newer since they renovated since the last time I was there. Both times our servers were great. Yes they are "older" women but so what? Do we deteriorate that much with age? Whatever happened to experience is better? They were like 55 anyway and they don't need to be all cute as they know what they are doing. In fact I posted a review about how I cannot stand the "No Problem" response from the 20 something wait staff occupying most of Patchogue/Medford restaurants. If being aloof and distracted is considered a good server then I fear for our future society. At least these ladies weren't checking their cell phones every 10 minutes or fixing their hair. The food was also as good as ever. First time I got Shrimp and Pasta and it was large, clean and delicious. No iodine taste which I have experienced elsewhere. My boyfriend got Chicken Parmesan, which is his favorite. It was a big portion and he enjoyed it; not lacking any sauce or cheese which is a pet peeve of his. Second time I got Chicken Picatta and it was also very good. Thin and no tendons or fat to cut into. I had it with Angel Hair and she even asked if I wanted it under the chicken or on the side. (Maybe they are nicer when you treat them nice?) The bread is awesome. Sort of like Garlic Knots. Even better with butter. I took half my food home since the portion was so big. Lastly the setting up of big table review? I have eaten in many restaurants where they have to set up a big table while you are eating. It has probably happened at least 3 times in the past 6 months. Are restaurants supposed to turn away big parties due to some random guy? Is he a Don or something? Good grief. (He also gives almost every place 1 or 2 stars - can't make this guy happy I guess)
This place used to be amazing, however over the years the place has diminished. The servers are the original and maybe a little to old. The prices are high and portions are small. I really didnt feel comfortable with the staff setting up bigger tables while we were eating dinner. I will not be returning here
Im sorry , i was a huge fan of this place in its heyday....the reviewers below are right the place has seen its time come and go. I still believe they had the best sauce (it was dark and well done). We come back here every now and then hoping it rekindled its perfection from say 5 years ago.....weve been on a painstaking hunt for the best place since
The Place is tired. You get a sense that there was huge motivation in the past but it has lost momentum not only in the decor but the quality of food. My visit was dine in and for lunch. Not too crowded quick unfriendly but not rude service. Peperoni roll wasn't fully cooked. The sauce for the Sicilian and the regular slice was flavor, heavy on the garlic but not fresh and probably cheap ingredients.
Located in The Swan Nursery Commons. Not a bad take-out pie here, its a nice thin-crust pizza but just doesn't attain any volcanic or metamorphic height in the oven. . . no bubbles to speak of, not enough ash and smoke, and just looks kinda flat. Still, its nice and greasy. . .The paper towel freaks are gonna have to pat this one down. The have a good sauce. The sit-down part of this restaurant is totally Italian, and they serve up a pasta night. We were the only ones eating here one night; the service was weak, and entrees only adequate. overall, **** for take-out pizza, *** for dine-in. open till 10pm
Ok just the facts here:\t\n If you love Great Italian Food, Good Service and most of all Reasonable Prices, this is the place for you. I have been eating at Sicilia D'oro for about 3 years now and I originally moved to Long Island from Brooklyn (where Pizza is a tradition). This place has been very consistent with their service and food quality. Their Pizza is very good and they will cook it to your liking. If you want crispy you will get it crispy and not burned. But the one thing that sets them apart is their dinner plates because they have such a great selection and they can definitely compete with some of the so called hi-rated restaurants of Manhattan (Trust me I know - I work in the city and I commute every day). The guys behind the counter are very accommodating and will go out of their way to service you. \t\nThe dining room needs updating but for the Quality of the food you can forgo the fanfare of a high class decor. The only bad thing is that they don't have local delivery. \t\n\t\nHighly Recommended!!\t\n
